Juttex

Juttex (juteZ) is a county in Kulpania, bordered by Minletor to the east, Straletor to the south, the Independent Province of Dalow to the south-east, and ocean in other directions. The county's largest city is Jilŋin, where the county council sits. The county is home to the mainland's furthest west point, Brisk Beach.

At the 2016 census, Juttex had a population of 838,148, with Jilŋin having a population of 200,718. The residents of Juttex have always felt distinct from the rest of the nation throughout Kulpania's history, notably storming the Palace of the Kingdom in Dalow three times between 1232 and 1258.

History

The county of Juttex was formed at the formation of the Kingdom of Kulpania in 1224. However, by 1232, the Juttexians had already begun to dislike the unification of Kulpania, so organised public shows to highlight their need for independence from the union. Later this year, a rebel army formed from Juttex residents, which raided the Palace of the Kingdom in Dalow. This attempt was unsuccessful: all participants were exiled and all Juttexians were barred from obtaining positions in the nobility or well-paid professions. These rules decimated the economy in the county, as all specialised work had to be outsourced to neighbouring counties and towns. While Juttexians were struggling with their economy, the leadership of Kulpania had achieved their goals as they wanted to make Juttex reliant on the union to supply them, which certainly happened in the following years.

In 1247, Queen Ngasi revokes the punishments on Juttex, believing that Juttexians have been permanently persuaded to stay unified. However, later the same year, the Juttexians attack the Palace again, and are again unsuccessful. Juttexians become banned from nobility positions once again, but this time their occupations are not affected.

The Juttexians attacked the Palace for the third and final time in 1258, and this time their forces were much more powerful and numerous. Consequently, King Hinsaf's army has to step in to protect the monarch, leading to the breakout of the Battle of Paro. It leads to a slim monarchy victory, but since the conflict was much more significant this time, the King agrees to lift restrictions on the Juttexians and introduce a new position in the country's nobility for Juttexians to occupy only. The Juttexians were satisfied with these decisions, as it would allow them to have a larger presence in the division of power in the country, which the residents saw as a step towards independence. Independence would not be achieved, however.
