Modaśobɉonit
Modaśobɉonit are a Kulpan pop rock band formed in Lowtah in 2012. It consists of lead vocalist Ghaníl Álnós, guitarists Olim Cístól and Ístál Ŋilmen, and drummer Limeg Usticmúl. The band first rose to popularity after featuring on the televised singing competition Tí Senísdísir (often stylised as Tísnís) in 2014, finishing fourth, and going on to sign with Tobeśelnís Records.
The band's first album, Atinoś Nas Dijó (Words After Dark), was released in November 2014, receiving critical acclaim, and prompting the band to embark on a nationwide tour in the summer of 2015. This tour, however, was cancelled after eleven of the twenty-seven planned shows after drummer Limeg Usticmúl suffered a cardiac arrest and was hospitalised for several weeks. The group's second album, Beśaśí Cat Ceɉaboś Ab (Meet Me in the Clouds), was moderately successful in Kulpania after its release in September 2015, however it received widespread international attention after several of its tracks were used in the Totsú multi-national sporting event later that year.
Following on from the success of their second album, Modaśobɉonit released Mínta (Meanwhile) in June 2016, which became their most popular release yet, selling more than 1.6 million copies nationwide. However, after numerous television appearances of many of the band's members, the group took a three-year long hiatus from January 2017 to "focus on new and exciting endeavours". The band marked their return to music in February 2020 with the release of their fourth studio album, Núsí Dcísó (Start Apologising), which quickly claimed the title of the best-selling album of 2020, with the single "Noslofsí Cat" ("Lead Me") winning the title of 'Best 2020 Single' at the Kulpan Music Report awards in November.
The band's most recent album, Nonsota (Yesterday), was released on 9 January 2021, with the track "Cal Romínt́isa" ("My Heart") reaching number 1 on the KP Singles Chart.
Although the band and its members are originally from Lowtah, the band has become more closely associated with Katril in recent years, after a series of highly successful appearances in and around the city.
